A day at Little Beach

We spent last Sunday at Little Beach.  Little Beach is right next to Big Beach in Makena.  (Yeah, some high hippies named the beaches in the 60's...lol.)

Little Beach is known as the nude beach.  Though being on a beach nude in Hawaii is illegal, the folks on this beach are generally left alone.  You can't see the beach from the road, which makes it great for the clothing optional people!

To get there, you park at big beach and hike/climb up some rocky terrain that was caused by a lava flow a long time ago.  You go up one side, and when you come down the other side, you have arrived!

On Sundays, all the hippies come to play, and the beach gets packed.  They sell special cookies, and the smell of pot fills the air.  Then, the drum circles begin!  It seems crazy, but its actually a lot of fun to go, and well...people watch.  Yes, some of them are naked, but its not awkward like you would think it would be.  Its just a bunch of chill (and sometimes high) people hanging out, boogie boarding, playing volleyball, and sun bathing.  I would say only half of the people are naked, and many of the women just go topless.  There's usually always a few little kids there, and they're freaking adorable running around naked in the surf.  :)

Here are some pictures (no, I'm not nude in any of them...lol)  Butttt, there are some other naked people, so beware...lol.  Nothing close up or distasteful though.  Just people hanging out the way God intended them too.  :)
